Military Quebec

Map of thematic routes

A defensive system was built, forts were erected, regiments crossed the Atlantic to defend the mother countries, human resources were devoted to industrial production.

Collections relate the history of these sites and defensive works: the valley of forts and the Patriotes trail, the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City and Montreal.

Barely 30 years before the French Revolution, the Conquest put an end to the military and trade conflict between the two colonial powers, France and Great Britain.

New France defended itself against British invasions before our southern neighbour declared independence, in 1775-1776.

The Patriots rebelled against British authorities in 1837-1838.

Quebec joined the rest of Canada in the war effort, boosting and targeting industrial production.
