A journey through more than 5,000 years of regional history! The Carrefour archéo permanent exhibition unveils iconic objects from Roussillon’s past, from Prehistory to the contemporary era.

A place of passage and trade, a place of fishing and agriculture, the Roussillon Regional County Municipality (MRC) was conducive to development, exchange, and encounters. Drawn from the rich collection of the Roussillon Archaeology Museum, the artifacts on display tell the story of the men and women who shaped the territory. Learn more about the way of life of the Indigenous peoples as well as the inhabitants who settled there during the French and British colonial periods. You can admire, among other things, prehistoric stone tools dating back more than 5,000 years, as well as the stakes from the palisade of Fort La Prairie. Psst… parents! This exhibition has several components related to the elementary school curriculum. Will you know more than the children? One thing is certain, you will all enjoy learning more through fun, interactive and educational activities: experiment with prehistoric tools and simulate an archaeological dig.
