By photographing assemblages of objects—fabric flowers, plastic plates, synthetic hair, artificial fruit, trinkets, and molded knick-knacks—Micheline Durocher produces vividly colored photographs that draw on the language of magazine advertising and still life. With a touch of subversive humor, her images subtly address the repressed legacy of accumulation in a mass-consumption society and also serve as a metaphor for how desire itself is a constructed phenomenon.
