An immersive environment inspired by the gym that modifies its codes to reveal the tensions between body, control, and exhaustion.
Le gymnase des résistances transforms the exhibition space into a hybrid environment combining a gym, a studio, and a symbolic worksite for the body. Modified pieces of equipment become metaphorical sculptures, revealing tensions between performance, care, and exhaustion. The gym is approached as a paradoxical site between control, refuge, and resistance. Unstable and inoperative machines question the obsession with bodily optimization. The fragmented floor and monumental paintings evoke emotional and physical states. The exhibition as a whole creates an immersive experience encouraging us to slow down and feel what is around us. It examines the wellness industry and reconsiders the body as a space of vulnerability, transformation, and collective solidarity.
