Housewarming

Karine Giboulo opens the door to her home, inviting you to discover a world that is both familiar and unique. Several miniature characters go about their daily routines. However, the theater of their lives proves to be vaster and more complex than it appears.

Polymer clay dioramas, aesthetic and colorful, delicately addressing social issues.

Here, the home becomes a setting for reflection on our place in the world and the bonds that unite us. By transforming furniture, appliances, and other everyday objects into narrative vehicles, Giboulo questions how each home contains the world and its history. She invites us to consider how, through the material goods that surround us, we shape and reflect our relationship with the world. The home thus becomes a portrait: both a mirror and an extension of oneself. Direct and incisive, the artist’s colorful microcosms present unexpected juxtapositions - playful and sad, realistic and absurd, poetic and political - that evoke emotions ranging from wonder to deep empathy. As we linger, we can each recognize a part of our own lives in them. After this visit, we will most likely look at our homes differently.
