Maude Arsenault, JJ Levine, and Caroline Monnet see their works brought together at the heart of Drawing the World from My Window, which explores the notion of home as a site of human construction.
Crossing one’s threshold offers the possibility of momentarily leaving the world behind. Situated within public space, the home has the particular quality of standing apart from it. Private and intimate, it exists on the margins of society, and thus at a distance from the relations of domination that structure it. This positioning grants it immense potential: the potential to be freely constructed. Presenting the work of Maude Arsenault, JJ Levine, and Caroline Monnet, this exhibition invites reflection on the notion of home—its pitfalls, but also the universe of possibilities it opens before us.
