Thresholds

The artist invites you into her home! Let yourself be carried away by this immersive experience, where the strangeness and hybridization of the objects in this unique environment will surprise and fascinate you with the meticulousness of her work.

The notion of care lies at the heart of the artist’s work. It appears both in the subjects she chooses to explore and, in the patient, precise way she creates her pieces. To assemble each work, the artist repeats the same gestures: she welds, cuts, then starts again several times. This repetition shapes the steel structure and creates the impression that is material, though very strong, could become fragile, a fragility that is mostly suggested rather than real. The steel then undergoes a treatment that alters its appearance. The artist uses polyethylene plastic, a transparent material, along with silicone-coated silk. These translucent layers wrap the installation in a veil that gives it an almost unreal presence, as if it were surrounded by a halo of a ghost. In this work, solidity and delicacy coexist. The tension between the rigid structure and its supple materials stages a dialogue between the inside and the outside, between what supports and what protects. This visual and physical contrast evokes the transient nature of matter, but also that of time, which transforms everything it touches.
