Carve Me a Legend

mettre en lumière les légendes de Charlevoix. Dive into the mind-bending world of sculptor Patrick Lavallée through an exhibition celebrating Québécois legends. Following its success at the Musée POP in Trois-Rivières, this exhibition has been specially revisited to showcase the legends of Charlevoix.

Discover sculptures inspired by Québécois legends, created by artist Patrick Lavallée.

First presented at the Musée POP in Trois-Rivières, the exhibition has been specially revisited to showcase Charlevoix’s iconic legends. Patrick Lavallée, a self-taught artist, ethnologist at heart, and keeper of memory, breathes new life into these tales, which time has been gradually erasing from our collective memory. "Our collective imagination is our greatest source of identity. Passing down tales and legends means preserving our shared memory — a bond between generations that must be nurtured and allowed to grow," says Patrick Lavallée. Based in L’Isle-Verte at his Atelier du Gosseux (Carver’s Workshop), Patrick Lavallée sculpts with instinct and spontaneity, in the tradition of Québec’s folk artists. A visual storyteller and "carver of possibilities," he transforms his imagination into meaningful objects, building bridges between past and present. His educational, whimsical, and folkloric approach brings these stories back to life, allowing elders to rediscover their memories and younger generations to discover the tales that have shaped our identity. Each sculpture becomes a vessel of emotion, inviting us to see the world through a child’s eyes and heart. On view in the museum’s mezzanine, from May 15, 2026 to January 10, 2027.
