Photography and collage lead Tanya Morand to create canvases and silkscreen prints in which she explores the variegated and social reality of cities she visits. Her work takes us on a geographical and temporal journey from Sherbrooke to Quebec City by way of Madrid and Havana. The cultural and vernacular heritage of the various places depicted enters into dialogue in these cut-up and reassembled cities. Tanya Morand was invited by the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke to come discover the city of Sherbrooke. She casts a new look on our municipality in her canvases, at times critical and at others contemplative, and invites us to imagine our future city, whose destiny rests with all of us.
