An exceptional journey back to the Devonian period, a time when fish ruled the world.
The "From Water to Land" exhibition showcases the very best fossils discovered over the past 50 years in the Miguasha fossil-rich cliff. These meticulously prepared specimens bear witness to the diversity of fish, invertebrates, and plants that flourished in an estuarine ecosystem on the edge of the newly formed Appalachians during the Devonian period, 380 million years ago, as a major biological revolution was underway: the transition from water to land in vertebrate evolution. Throughout the exhibition, visitors are introduced to the geographical and environmental context of the site during the Devonian period. They learn about the natural conditions that led to the exceptional fossilization of the Miguasha fossils, which have been found in astonishing quantities over the decades. They are also exposed to the key milestones in the site’s human history, driven by scientists fueled by a thirst for discovery. Finally, he has the chance to admire the most beautiful fossils from the park’s collections and to learn about the remarkable diversity of fossil fish in Miguasha.
