The Art of Nérée De Grâce - The Collection of Édith Butler

Among the most notable naïve painters of the Maritimes, Nérée De Grâce stands out as one of the leading figures. This prolific Acadian painter, who died in Quebec City in 2002, was born in Shippagan, New Brunswick, in 1920. After studying at the École des beaux-arts de Québec and working as a commercial artist, he decided at the age of 57 to devote himself to painting full-time. Through his paintings, he sought to promote Acadia, collaborating with artists such as Antonine Maillet and Édith Butler. Thanks to the latter, who began collecting his artworks early on, we can still appreciate the beginnings of his career today.
