Wooden shipbuilding and maritime transport on Île d’Orléans

A field of work linking the islanders to the St. Lawrence River

Come and discover the vast history of wooden shipbuilding. You will have the opportunity to explore the Godbout rowboat shop, an authentic building dating back from 1837, as well as the site of the former Saint-Laurent shipyard, dating from 1908, which produced several schooners.

This exhibition showcases the process of building wooden rowboats and schooners, featuring a collection of over 400 heritage tools. Models, testimonies, interpretation panels are available to illustrate this aspect of Quebec’s maritime history. Visitors can explore the site independently, with an audioguide or with a guide.
