About the museum
A classified heritage building, the Maison dite Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine has preserved its olden-days charm. The house was built in 1766, and its French-style architecture is typical of the period. Louis-Hippolyte La Fontaine, a prominent figure in the history of Lower Canada, lived here when he was young, and the house has had an eventful history, surviving fire, a move, and restoration. It is now located in the De La Broquerie park, an enchanting site where the vestiges of a home built as early as 1735 can be seen.
Visit the house and tour the permanent exhibit, Mémoires d’une demeure ancestrale (Memories of an ancestral home). Learn about the architecture and history of a home marked by noteworthy events. Discover a new chapter in the history of Boucherville by visiting the temporary exhibit, which is refreshed every year. A virtual exhibit called La Broquerie dans tous ses états! will take you on a journey through the history of the park, going back to when it was a native encampment, and the history of the villa known as La Broquerie.
