145, rue du Père-Wilfrid-Corbeil, Joliette (Québec), J6E 4T4
The open light-filled space of the Musée d’Art de Joliette makes the museum a beautiful and welcoming place for the public. In addition to its permanent collection, where you can see works by Paul-Émile Borduas, Ozias Leduc, Adrien Hébert and Guido Molinari, the museum also features around 20 temporary exhibitions and art projects each year. The MAJ is recognized as Quebec's most important art museum outside the major cities.
The collection of the Musée d’art de Joliette currently comprises 8,500 works. The Museum’s acquisition and documentation policy, together with its many collaborations with institutions in Québec, across Canada, and internationally, enables it to meet its collection conservation objectives and to remain highly dynamic in the field of research. Addressing audiences of all ages, the Musée d’art de Joliette grounds its actions in a process of cultural democratization aimed at making emerging knowledge in the field of visual arts accessible. The dissemination of this knowledge takes shape through the presentation of permanent and temporary exhibitions, the publication of catalogues, the circulation of exhibitions, the development of off-site projects, the loan of artworks, and a program of guided tours and educational and cultural activities (lectures, artist talks, concerts, public readings, and cultural trips).
