About the museum

Tungnasugitsi Kangiqsujuammut! - Welcome to Kangiqsujuaq! Parc national des Pingualuit is located in the middle of the Ungava Plateau and protects a meteorite crater with exceptionally clear, bluish waters

The permanent exhibition gives you the chance to understand the particularities of this territory, now known as Parc national des Pingualuit. You can see Maasiu Ningiuruvik's qajaq, probably the last qajaq used for subsistence purposes in Nunavik, appreciate a magnificent sculpture by Mitiarjuk Nappaaluk, learn about the community of Kangiqsujuaq, and see "impactites", rocks that were thrown up by the impact of the meteorite that formed the crater over 1.3 million years ago. Visiting time - 45 minutes The Pingualuk crater offers a unique panorama in an almost lunar tundra. The park's vast, treeless expanses are ideal for observing nature and wildlife. The area is known as "pingualuit", a name that humorously refers to an acne pimple and describes the crater's elevated contour.
