About the exhibition
We always picture the archaeologist digging with a trowel and brush, searching for treasure buried beneath layers of earth. But once the treasure is discovered, the real work begins, and the archaeologist can rely on a host of tools to help them in their work: the archaeosciences.
This new exhibition reveals the unexpected toolbox of today’s archaeologists. How do physics, chemistry, biology, geology, new research techniques, and technology help archaeologists study and decode the artifact’s past? And what if visitors, young and old, could take part in this scientific adventure?
Through different courses, they will be able to step into the shoes of an archaeologist to experiment with certain archaeosciences, manipulate tools, collect clues and perhaps solve archaeological puzzles.

The Roussillon Archaeology Museum, located on the heritage site of Vieux-La Prairie, invites you to discover more than 5,000 years of history in the Roussillon region through its archaeological collections of over 200,000 artifacts.
