Width (Dimensions)

Definition:

  • This field contains the measurement of the maximum width of the object.

Observations:

  1. Width is one of the horizontal dimensions of an object.
  2. For objects with a main side, the width is the maximum dimension measured from left to right, along a real or imaginary horizontal line. The depth is the other horizontal dimension, measured from front to back.
  3. For objects with no main side, the width is the smaller horizontal dimension, and the length, the larger one.
  4. You should generally be facing the main side of the object to measure its dimensions. Refer to the "How to measure objects" section of the Guide.
  5. This field is used in conjunction with the Unit Linear field.
  6. Dimensions should always be expressed in centimetres, except when the object is too large or too small.

  1. Enter a single measurement, in real numbers.

  2. Details regarding measurements and comments about partial or questionable measurements should be noted in the Dimension/Weight Remarks field.
