						Component Part Names (Identification)Definition:

This field contains the names of the removable parts of the object.
Observations: N.B.: Do not confuse the Object Name and Component Part Names fields. Objects are entities that may or may not have component parts. A piece that can be displayed by itself is an object; use the Object Name field. An element whose primary purpose is to complete the object it belongs to is a component part; use the Component Part Names field.
ExampleRecord for a sugar bowl and its lid | | Object Name | sugar bowl |
|---|
 | | Quantity | 1 |
|---|
 | | Component Part Names | sugar bowl; lid |
|---|
 | | Number of Components | 2 |
|---|
This field is used in conjunction with the Number of Components field.
Entry rules: When an object consists of several elements, enter the name of each component part and separate each with a semicolon followed by a space. If several of the elements have the same name, enter this name in the singular, even if there is more than one, followed by a space and the total number between parentheses.
Example 1A bookcase has three moveable shelves. | | Object Name | bookcase |
|---|
 | | Quantity | 1 |
|---|
 | | Component Part Names | bookcase; shelf (3) |
|---|

|---|

|---|
 | | Number of Components | 33 |
|---|
When all the components of an object have the same name, it is not necessary to enter the number in parentheses.
