Outside Diameter (Dimensions)

Definition:

  • This field contains the measurement of the outside diameter of the specimen.

Observations:

  1. The outside diameter corresponds to the longest straight dimension along a line through the centre, from one extremity to the other of the spherical part of a cylindrical or rounded specimen, or to the largest dimension of the cylindrical or rounded part of a specimen.
  2. This field is used in conjunction with the Unit Linear field.
  3. Dimensions should always be expressed in centimetres, except when the item is too large or too small.

  1. Enter a single measurement, in real numbers.

  2. Details regarding measurements and comments about partial or questionable measurements should be noted in the Dimension/Weight Remarks field.
