Current Condition Remarks (Physical Description)

Definition:

  • This field contains remarks by the person or people who assessed the current condition of the object.

Observations:

  1. Remarks fields are used for information that cannot be included in any other field.
  2. This field is used in conjunction with the Current Condition and Current Condition Date fields.
    Example

     Current Condition poor
     Current Condition Date 1988-08-08
    Current Condition Remarks Cannot be displayed without major restoration work (J.B.).

Entry rules:

  1. Note the information clearly, concisely and consistently.
  2. To keep an audit trail of this field, enter the initials of the person who made the remark, in parentheses, following each remark.
    Example

    The condition of a plaster sculpture was assessed on December 12, 1992 by Lesley Duffin. On November 15, 1996, the sculpture was struck lightly and a small crack appeared on the lower right. Louise Vincent immediately made a condition report.

     Current Conditiongood; excellent
     Current Condition Date 1996-11-15; 1992-12-12
    Current Condition Remarks There is a slight crack on the lower right (L.V.). The location of the sculpture could be hazardous (L.D.).
