Originating Continent (Site/Habitat/Origin)

Definition:

  • This field contains the name of the continent where the specimen originated.

Observation:

  • For better search results in your database, avoid a large variety of terms; draw up an authority list. You may use the following authority list:1

    Africa
    Antarctica
    Asia
    Europe
    North America
    Oceania
    South America

Entry rules:

  1. Enter the full name of the continent; do not use abbreviations.
    Example

      Discipline zoology
      GenusVulpes
      Speciesvulpes
    Originating Continent North America
  2. If you are unsure whether your information is correct, enter a space and a question mark after the name of the continent.
    Example

    Originating Continent Africa ?
  3. This field may not contain more than one entry.
