Presentation

Built between 1865 and 1872, the Lévis Forts were designed to protect Quebec City against an American invasion. As an integral part of the defence complex of Québec, it bears witness to the evolution in fortification techniques and marks the transition from classical to modern military art, from the concept of the continuous rampart to the detached fort.
