Presentation

The Maison des Jésuites de Sillery sits on the ground of the first Jesuit mission, which was founded in 1637 to convert the nomadic Aboriginal peoples and encourage them to establish permanent communities. The permanent exhibition traces the history of the mission as it pursued its activities throughout most of the 17th century. The artefacts on display tell of the relationship among the Jesuit, Europeans and local Native population.

Discover also an Amerindian encampment, archaeological artefacts and a garden featuring a wealth of indigenous flora.
