About the exhibition

Anne Innis Dagg devoted her life to the study of these fascinating animals. A pioneer in free-ranging giraffe research, she left her mark on the history of both zoology and feminist science.

Enter her world as you climb aboard “Camelo”, her safari car, and be amazed by these enigmatic giants. Their long necks and high legs enable them to graze on the most inaccessible leaves and to see far. Their size also poses challenges such as sending blood to the brain, while avoiding the inflow when they lower their heads to drink! Ossicones on their heads, long blue tongues and unique patterns on their bodies, giraffes are impressive.

The exhibition is divided into four captivating zones:

  •     The story of Anne Innis Dagg
  •     Giraffes, those enigmatic giants
  •     Conservation challenges
  •     Giraffes on the run!

The exhibition is a production of THEMUSEUM (Kitchener, ON) in collaboration with the Anne Innis Dagg Foundation and the Musée de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke, with the contribution of Heritage Canada.
