Number of Components (Identification)

Definition:

  • This field contains the number of removable parts making up the object.

Observations:

  1. N.B.: Do not confuse the Quantity and Number of Components fields. Objects are entities that may or may not have component parts. A piece that can be displayed by itself is an object; use the Quantity field. An element whose primary purpose is to complete the object it belongs to is a component part; use the Number of Components field.
    Example

    A lamp with a reservoir and a reflector

      Object Name lamp
     Quantity 1
     Component Part Names reservoir; reflector
    Number of Components 2
  2. This field is used in conjunction with the Component Part Names field.

Entry rules:

  1. Enter a whole number, without fractions or decimals.
    Example

    A set of five arrows with removable points

      Object Namearrow
     Quantity 5
     Component Part Namesarrow shaft (5); point (5)
    Number of Components 10
  2. This field may not contain more than one entry.
