Outside Diameter (Dimensions)

Definition:

  • This field contains the measurement of the outside diameter of the object.

Observations:

  1. The diameter corresponds to the longest straight dimension along a line through the centre from one side (or edge) to the other of the spherical part of a cylindrical or rounded object, or to the largest dimension of the cylindrical or rounded part of an object.
  2. You should generally be facing the main side of the object to measure its dimensions. Refer to the "How to measure objects" section of the Guide.
  3. This field is used in conjunction with the Unit Linear field.
  4. Dimensions should always be expressed in centimetres, except when the object is too large or too small.

  1. Enter a single measurement, in real numbers.

  2. Details regarding measurements and comments about partial or questionable measurements should be noted in the Dimension/Weight Remarks field.
