Interested in broadening your horizons while in confinement? For a change of pace, the museums of Québec offer you virtual experiences and the opportunity to stay connected through content spanning a thousand different captivating subjects. Time to start actively discovering museum-related activities on the Web. See you in front of your screens!

Virtually leave your home, in just a few clicks

Allow yourself to be transported through museum spaces via 360° visits, lingering as long as you like to admire the setting, artifacts, and artwork.

At your own rhythm, make your way through the magnificent online exhibition spaces at Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex or at Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. Observe Alex Janvier’s 418-m2 incredibly detailed masterpiece adorning the dome in the Haida Gwaii Salon at the Canadian History Museum. Take refuge in the Monastère des Ursulines de Québec, a genuine heritage treasure that can be explored from your living room. Engage in virtual experiences that showcase the profiles of inspiring individuals, like avant-garde woman Elsie Reford, founder of the Reford Gardens.

Finally, navigate large interior and exterior panoramas for an overview of Minéro – Musée de Thetford/KB3’s wonderful mineralogical collections! In addition, you are invited to appreciate previously unseen points of view on the natural and built environments of the resulting city, which was constructed around a mine.

Online games: have fun while testing your brainpower

Far away from the classroom setting, youth will find Web content to satisfy their curiosity and enrich their knowledge.

How does one identify fake news? The Montréal Science Centre proposes Hoax or truth?, a quiz designed to test your critical thinking skills. Compare your results as a family! The online game Gear up for NATURE, offered by the Museum of Ingenuity J. Armand Bombardier, will appeal to children determined to pursue an “evil polluter.”

Time to engage in participatory activities from home

Despite confinement, museums remain active and seek out your participation!

Be sure to follow the social media accounts of museum institutions to stock up on tips of activities to be enjoyed individually, as a couple, or as a family. At a loss for ideas? Recreate a piece of Québecois art using “in-house” staging.

The Musée d’art de Joliette is doing its part by launching a different theme each week, then inviting the public to share its resulting artistic creations in a virtual gallery, entitled Quarantined Museum

And many more!
